APPLIED VEHICLES:
2000-2001 Maxima (A33) with Manual Transmission (M/T) Only

SERVICE INFORMATION

If a manual transmission 2000 or 2001 Maxima exhibits the following symptom:

^ On/off throttle sensitivity in first gear at low engine/vehicle speeds (1400-1800 rpm) during slight accelerator pedal movement.

The cause may be fuel cut/recovery transition when the throttle is closed and then opened slightly.

A new ECM program is available that will eliminate fuel cut/recovery at engine speeds below 1800 rpm. Use the Service Procedure provided in this bulletin to reprogram the vehicle's ECM and resolve the incident.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Check For Stored DTC's:

Using CONSULT-II, check for stored DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) by selecting "ENGINE" and "SELF-DIAG RESULTS":

ECM Part Number Identification and Update

1. Determine the vehicle's ECM Part Number. The ECM P/N is found by CONSULT ECM P/N Selection.

2. Compare the vehicle's ECM P/N to those shown under Current ECM P/N in Chart A shown.
