Trouble Diagnoses Summary of Power Sunroof

NONE OF THE POWER SUNROOF CAN OPERATE USING ANY SWITCH

System Description
Sunroof can be opened or closed and tilted up or down with sunroof switch.
Power sunroof AUTO feature makes it possible to open and close sunroof without holding sunroof switch in the down or up position.

Possible Cause
- Fuse
- Fusible link
- Circuit breaker
- Sunroof switch
- Sunroof motor
- Circuit open or short

Diagnostic Repair Procedure (for confirmed incidents)
1. Check power supply to sunroof motor terminals 1 and 6: Battery voltage should exist.
a. Check fuse, fusible link and circuit breaker.
b. Check circuit between fuse, circuit breaker and sunroof motor.
2. Check ground circuit for sunroof motor.
3. Check sunroof switch.
4. Check sunroof motor.

POWER SUNROOF CANNOT OPERATE USING ONE OF THE SUNROOF SWITCHES

System Description
Sunroof can be opened or closed and tilted up or down with sunroof switch.
Power sunroof AUTO feature makes it possible to open and close sunroof without holding sunroof switch in the down or up position.

Possible Cause
- Sunroof switch
- Circuit open or short

Diagnostic Repair Procedure (for confirmed incidents)
1. Check sunroof switch.
2. Check circuit between sunroof motor and sunroof switch.

SUNROOF AUTO FUNCTION CANNOT BE OPERATED PROPERLY

System Description
Sunroof can be opened or closed and tilted up or down with sunroof switch.
Power sunroof AUTO feature makes it possible to open and close sunroof without holding sunroof switch in the down or up position.
When ignition switch is turned to OFF position from ON or START position, sunroof can be operate for 45 seconds. This operation (retained power operation) is canceled when front door is opened.
Sunroof motor monitors sunroof motor operation and position (full closed or other) for sunroof by the signals from encoder and limit switch in sunroof motor.
When sunroof motor detects interruption during the following close operation,
- automatic close operation when ignition switch is in ON position
- automatic close operation during retained power operation
sunroof motor controls the motor for open and sunroof will operate about 150 mm (5.91 in).

Possible Cause
- Sunroof slide mechanism
- Sunroof switch
- Sunroof motor
- Circuit open or short

Diagnostic Repair Procedure (for confirmed incidents)
1. Check obstacles in sunroof, etc.
2. Check worn or deformed sunroof.
3. Check sunroof sash titled too far inward or outward.
4. Check sunroof switch.
5. Check circuit between sunroof motor and sunroof switch.
6. Replace sunroof motor.

RETAINED POWER OPERATION DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY

System Description
Sunroof can be opened or closed and tilted up or down with sunroof switch.
Power sunroof AUTO feature makes it possible to open and close sunroof without holding sunroof switch in the down or up position.
When ignition switch is turned to OFF position from ON or START position, sunroof can be operated for 45 seconds. This operation (retained power operation) is canceled when front door is opened.

- Front door switch
- Circuit open or short
- Smart entrance control unit

Diagnostic Repair Procedure (for confirmed incidents)
1. Check RAP signal circuit: Perform CONSULT-II ACTIVE TEST in RETAINED PWR, then turn ignition switch OFF Confirm that power window operates when RETAINED PWR is ON. Confirm that power window does not operate when RETAINED PWR is OFF.
2. Check circuit between smart entrance control unit and front door switches.
3. Check ground circuit for front door switches.
4. Check front door switches.
5. Check smart entrance control unit input/output signals.
