Air Bag Warning Lamp Does Not Turn On
DescriptionWhen the ignition key is turned from OFF to ON the air bag warning lamp should illuminate. If no malfunction is detected it will go off after about 7 seconds. The air bag warning lamp is illuminated by power supply from a fuse in the fuse panel and body ground. The diagnosis sensor unit supplies a ground to the combination meter to turn the air bag warning lamp OFF. If this ground is not supplied the air bag warning lamp should turn ON. An out of order diagnosis sensor unit may cause the air bag warning lamp to remain ON or not turn ON. at all.
CAUTION: Do not use electrical test equipment on any circuit related to the SRS unless instructed to in the service procedures. Spiral cable and wiring harnesses can be identified by yellow harness connector (and with yellow harness protector or yellow insulation tape before the harness connectors). Do not attempt to repair, splice or modify the SRS wiring harness. If the harness is damaged, replace it with a new one. Always mount the diagnosis sensor unit with the forward mark to the front. Replace previously used special bolts and ground bolt with new ones. Keep ground connections clean.
