Use the procedures set out in this bulletin to effect repairs if inspection confirms a customer complaint that the outer edge of the door finisher cloth inserts on any of the doors of an applied 2000 Maxima appear rough or uneven, or is not fully inserted into the door finisher (see figures 1 and 2 for examples).

In addition, to ensure customer satisfaction, if any new vehicle in-stock should have this condition, this procedure should be used to repair the vehicle prior to sale.

In either case, use the Repair Procedure below to re-apply adhesive to the door finisher and correct the condition(s).

NOTE: This is the only authorized repair for this incident. DO NOT REPLACE the door finisher.

A kit that includes the products needed to complete this repair has been shipped to the Service Manager of each authorized Nissan Dealer. Each kit includes: one tube of adhesive (3M Scotch-Grip [TM] Rubber and Gasket Adhesive, # 847), and one 51 mm (2 inch) plastic putty knife (Hyde Tools P/N 05520).

NOTE: This is the only adhesive approved for this repair. If necessary, additional tubes can be ordered through your 3M supplier (call 1-800-364-3577 for supplier locations).

If it is necessary to sub-let this repair, provide the adhesive, the putty knife, and this bulletin to the sub-let repair facility.

Material Safety Data Sheets are attached (Attachment A).
