INTRODUCTION





Nissan has identified that certain model year 2001-2002 Frontier and Xterra models and certain 2001 Altima models may experience unexpected or difficult operation of the windows. The primary cause is extended high temperature conditions affecting the window regulator system. These high temperature conditions generally occur in the states shown. In these areas, Nissan has initiated a Voluntary Service Campaign to replace the affected window regulators with the improved design. In other areas where this incident in not expected to occur, Nissan is extending the warranty on the vehicles should a future repair be needed.

IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

Nissan has assigned identification numbers PU306 & PU307 to this campaign. These numbers must appear on all communications and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.

PU306

^ This PNC group is for vehicles located in the warm states (previously shown) and requires that the vehicle be repaired using the Service Procedure in this bulletin. Service Comm will identify these vehicles.

PU307

^ This PNC group is for vehicles identified as NOT being located in the warm states. Owners of these vehicles will receive a warranty extension letter should a repair be required in the future. A copy of the letter is shown. Eligibility can be confirmed by VIN within the "Applicable Warranty" section of Service Comm.

NUMBER OF VEHICLES POTENTIALLY AFFECTED

The number of vehicles potentially affected is approximately 270,000.

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY

It is the Nissan dealer's responsibility to check Service Comm for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of this Voluntary Service Campaign (PU306/PU307) that enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in the Nissan dealer's inventory.
