CONSULT-II DIAGNOSTIC SOFTWARE UPDATE PROCEDURE (DIAGNOSTIC AND RESIDENT) (BLUE CARD)

Use the procedure below to perform software updates from the ASIST PC to CONSULT-II.

1. Install the Blue Diagnostic Card into slot "A" of CONSULT-II (see Figure 1).

2. Connect the AC power supply to CONSULT-II.

3. Connect CONSULT-II to the ASIST PC with the special Ethernet cable (P/N 02002554, printed on the cable) contained in the CONSULT-II kit.

NOTE:
Connect the special ethernet cable to the ASIST PC by connecting it to the ethernet card connection port located on the back of the computer. Connect the special ethernet cable to CONSULT-II at the PC port located at the bottom end of the CONSULT-II unit.

4. Set the Ethernet (IP) Address of the ASIST PC and CONSULT-II as follows:

NOTE:
If the Ethernet (IP) address between the ASIST PC and CONSULT-II has already been established, proceed to step 5.

A. On the ASIST PC, click "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", and then select "Network".

B. When the "Network Configuration" screen appears (see Figure 2) select "TCP/IP". Then select "Properties".

C. Compare Figure 3 with the "TCP/IP Properties" screen on the ASIST PC.

^ If the "IP Address" and "Subnet Mask" appear EXACTLY as shown in Figure 3, click "Cancel" and close the "Control Panel" box. Now continue to step "D".

^ If the "IP Address" and "Subnet Mask" do not match EXACTLY as shown in Figure 3, change the numbers so that they do. Click "OK", reboot the computer to save the new IP Address, and continue to step "D".

D. On CONSULT-II, touch "Configure Ethernet".

E. Check that the Ethernet (IP) Address is 192.168.001.002 and the Mask is 255.255.255.000 (see Figure 4).

^ If the Ethernet (IP) Address already matches the address listed in step "E" above, press "Copy" to print the Address for future reference, turn off CONSULT-II and proceed with step 5 below.

^ If the Ethernet (IP) Address does not match the address listed in step "E" above, proceed with step "F" below to correctly set the CONSULT-II Ethernet (IP) address.

F. To change, touch the Address number on the CONSULT-II screen (titled "Configure Ethernet"). A numeric keypad will appear (see Figure 5).

G. Use the keypad to change the Address and Mask to the correct number.

H. Touch "Save" and then press "Copy" to print the Address for future reference.

I. Turn off CONSULT-II to allow the new address to be saved in memory, then proceed with step 5 below.

5. From the ASIST PC main menu screen, select "INFO. ToolBox" (see Figure 6).

6. From the "INFORMATION TOOLBOX" screen, select "CONSULT Utilities" (see Figure 7).

7. From the "CONSULT Utilities" screen, select "CONSULT-II", then select "Update" (see figure 8).

8. Turn on CONSULT-II as follows (file transfer mode):

NOTE:
A double-beep will sound after the ON/OFF switch is quickly depressed.

B. Select "Transfer files via Lan" (see Figure 10). Set the CONSULT-II unit down for now.

NOTE:
If you accidentally choose a menu option other than "Transfer Files via Lan", turn CONSULT-II off and restart it according to step 8.A above.

NOTE:
There are no zeros in front of the numbers on this screen.

12. Wait until the data transfer is complete. Data transfer will take about 2 to 3 minutes and the progress of the transfer is displayed on the ASIST PC screen titled "Dialog" (see Figure 13).

NOTE:
When the data transfer is complete, the CONSULT-II unit will automatically shut off.

Update CONSULT-II Resident Software (as noted below)

13. Turn on CONSULT-II again by following step 8 above (file transfer mode).

14. At the ASIST PC screen, select the "Resident" button (see Figure 14) and wait until the data transfer is complete. Allow several seconds for the CONSULT-II screen to dim. Once the CONSULT-II screen is dim, the software update is complete.
