SERVICE INFORMATION
If an applied vehicle exhibits a buzzing noise coming from the engine compartment for several seconds after the ignition key is turned off, the cause may be the electronically controlled engine mounts. Use the Diagnosis / Repair Flow Chart to diagnose and repair the vehicle.
Engine Mount Operation Check Procedure
Check the engine mount operation using CONSULT-II as follows:
A. Move the vehicle to a quiet location so you can hear the engine mount changeover sound (performed in step "E" below).
B. Turn the engine OFF.
C. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
D. Connect CONSULT-II and select "Active Test Mode" and then "Engine Mounting".
E. Working at the front of the vehicle and with the hood open, auto switch between TRVL/ON and IDLE/OFF modes while listening for the engine mount changeover sound.
Engine Mount Production Date Verification Procedure
Each engine mount has a production date code painted on it. The date code is made up of four digits and can be determined by using the date code example listed below.
Use the date code example below to make sure your replacement engine mounts have a date code of September 4, 2000 or later. Replacement engine mounts with earlier dates should not be used.
Date Code Example "0104":
"0" number indicates the manufacturing year of 2000
"I" letter indicates the manufacturing month of September (9th month in alphabetical order)
"04" numbers indicate the manufacturing day of the 4th
