CLAIMS INFORMATION

Submit a Primary Failed Part (PP) line claim using the claims coding shown.

IMPORTANT:
The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. The black 0-ring and broken yellow plastic dipstick blade will be visible inside the dipstick tube. (See Figure 1)

2. Try and remove the dipstick blade by using a small seal pick to gently lift the black 0-ring upward.

^ Pull the 0-ring towards the wall of the tube. (See Figure 2)

^ If the 0-ring comes off the shaft, the blade will fall to the bottom of the oil pan. This is OK.

^ You can the use a shop vac to pull the broken blade from the tube.

NOTE:
This vacuum removal procedure will work only if the 0-ring can be removed from the dipstick blade.

3. Turn on the shop vac. Wrap one hand around the dipstick tube and the shop vac nozzle to form a seal around the dipstick tube. (See Figure 3)

Alternate Sealing Method

3A If you can't get a good seal (with your hand), wrap a plastic bag around the dipstick tube to provide a better seal. (See Figure 4)

3B Then place a funnel over the tube. (See Figure 5) The funnel neck must be large enough to fit over the tube and plastic bag.

3C Place the vacuum nozzle against the funnel opening. (See Figure 6)

4. The dipstick blade will immediately be sucked into the vacuum nozzle. Grab the blade before it falls back down the tube. (See Figure 7)

5. Install the new dipstick.
