Road Test/Odometer Check Procedure

Confirm the operation of the odometer as follows:

1. Use a known good vehicle, which has an odometer that reads in miles, 10 establish a road circuit (at your dealership or around its premises) that is exactly 1 mile in length.

2. Reset the trip odometer to show 0 miles in the vehicle being tested.

3. Drive the tested vehicle on the 1 mile road circuit. At the end of the circuit, record the trip odometer reading.

NOTE
Vehicle speed does not affect the results of this test. Please comply with the speed limit regulations in your area when performing this test.

A. If after the road test, the odometer reading is 1 mile (+/- 0.1 mile), the odometer is OK and does not have to be replaced. Return the vehicle to the customer.

NOTE:
Some variation in odometer readings may occur due to differences in vehicles and tire size.

B. If after the road test, the odometer reading is approximately 1.6 miles, proceed with the next step (of the flow chart).
