SERVICE INFORMATION

If the front center console cup holder on an applied 2002 Altima will not close, determine if the plastic cup holder lid springs are broken, bent, or have come off.

Steel springs are available for this incident.

Use the Service Procedure in this bulletin to install the steel springs, if this incident should occur.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the center console cup holder from the vehicle.

a. Open the lid to the center console storage bin.

b. Remove the console finisher from the shift selector.





c. Remove the screw cover and screw holding the cup holder in the console (see figure 1).

d. Remove the cup holder from the center console (see figure 1)





2. Replace the two springs for the cup holder lid (one on each end) with the ones listed in the Parts Information of this bulletin (see figure 2).

NOTE:
Figure 2 shows correct installation of new metal spring.

3. Reinstall the cup holder and console finisher in reverse order.
