Preliminary Steps:

1. Write down all radio station presets.

2. Remove any accessory (phone charger, etc.) from the 12V Power Outlet(s).

WARNING:

^ Do NOT use a "Computer Memory Save" (9-volt power source), that plugs into the 12V Power Outlet(s), to retain memory settings on the computer and radio.

^ No voltage should be present in the system when performing this procedure.

3. Disconnect both battery cables.

4. Wait 3 minutes before proceeding with the following steps.

Reposition Driver's SRS Air Bag Module:

5. Use a suitable plastic pry tool to carefully remove the:





^ Audio Controls Cover on the steering wheel (if equipped). See Figure 7.

^ Automatic Speed Controls Cover or the steering wheel (if equipped) See Figure 7.





6. Remove two screws and remove the Audio Control from the steering wheel (if equipped). See Figure 8.

7. Remove two screws and remove the Automatic Speed Controls from the steering wheel (if equipped). See Figure 8.





8. Remove the two Air Bag Module Mounting Screws (see Figure 9).

NOTE:
Some vehicles have optional Security Screws (see example in Figure 9). You will have to use the special tool to remove these screws.





9. Carefully move the Air Bag Module rearward enough to reach the Air Bag Module Harness Connectors (see Figure 10).

Install Connector Clips:





10. Press the black Lock Button on each Air Bag Module Harness Connector (see Figure 11) to make sure the connector is locked onto the Air Bag Module.





11. Install a Connector Clip (supplied in the kit) on each Air Bag Module Harness Connector (see Figure 12).

IMPORTANT:
Make sure the Connector Clips are fully seated and locked onto each Air

Bag Module Harness Connector. Push down on the top of each clip once they are installed to make sure they are fully "seated".





12. Apply the piece of tape (supplied in the kit) over the Connector Clips (see Figure 13). This will prevent the edges of the Connector Clips from damaging other wires.

Re-assembly:

13. Re-install the Air Bag Module to the Steering Wheel using the new screws supplied in the kit (see Figure 9). Tighten the pew screws to: 71 - 115 in-lb.

14. Re-install the Audio Control and Automatic Speed Control to the steering wheel with the four screws (see Figure 8).





15. Re-install the Audio Control and Automatic Speed Control Covers, making sure the grooves in the covers align with the Guide Ribs on the controls (see Figure 14).

Check Air Bag Module Warning Light (on Instrument Panel):

CAUTION:
Make sure the ignition key is in the OFF position and all doors are closed before reconnecting the battery cables (next step)

16. Re-connect both battery cables.

17. From the passenger side, turn the ignition key to the ON position.

a. If the Air Bag Module Warning Light turns OFF after 5 - 7 seconds, proceed to "Final Steps".

b. If the Air Bag Module Warning Light does NOT turn ON at first, does NOT turn OFF. or blinks, refer to the applicable Service Manual for diagnosis/repair Then proceed to "Final Steps".

Final Steps:

18. Re-program all radio station presets

19. Re-set the clock.

20. Use CONSULT-II to clear any related DTC codes.
