Balance Shaft: Service and Repair

Balancer Unit Bolt Sequence:

Install the balancer unit and tighten the mounting bolts in the numerical order shown with the following procedure:

CAUTION: When reusing a mounting bolt, check its outer diameter before installation.

1. Apply new engine oil to threads and seating surfaces of mounting bolts.
2. Tighten them to 45.2 - 51.0 Nm (34 - 37 ft lbs).
3. Turn them another 90° - 95° (Target: 90°).
4. Fully loosen in the reverse order of tightening to 0 Nm (0 ft lbs).
5. Tighten them to 45.2 - 51.0 Nm (34 - 37 ft lbs).






6. Turn them another 90° - 95° degrees (Target: 90° degrees).

CAUTION: Check tightening angle with an angle wrench or a protractor. Do not make judgment by visual check alone.
