Front Side Air Bag Module








FRONT SIDE AIR BAG MODULE / Removal

WARNING: Removal of front side air bag module should only be done to allow deployment of front side air module prior to disposal of seatback assembly. Only complete seatback assemblies can be replaced. Refer to Seat Back / Service and Repair. Service and Repair

CAUTION: Before servicing SRS, turn the ignition switch off, disconnect both battery cables and wait at least 3 minutes.
Always work from the rear of the front side air bag module.

1. Remove the front seat.

2. Remove the seatback trim and pad.
Refer to Seat Cushion / Service and Repair "SEAT-BACK TRIM AND PAD".

3. Remove the seatback rear finisher, and remove the retainers securing the seat cushion trim.

4. Remove air bag module harness clips.

5. Remove the special fasteners coated with bonding agent from the front side air bag module, and the front side air bag module.







CAUTION: When using a clip removal tool to remove the seatback board, take care not to damage the harness for front side air bag module.
Always place the front side air bag module standing with the stud bolt side facing down.
Do not insert any foreign objects (screwdrivers, etc.) into front side air bag module.
Do not attempt to disassemble front side air bag module.






Replace front seatback assembly (side air bag module) if it has been dropped or sustained an impact.
Do not expose front seatback assembly (side air bag module) to temperatures exceeding 90°C (194°F).
Do not allow oil, grease or water to come in contact with the front side air bag module.
After front side air bag module inflates, front seatback assembly must be replaced.
