IF YOU CONFIRM

The sunshade is loose or won't open or close smoothly because the sunshade guide clips are bent and/or out of the track.

ACTION

Remove the sunshade and replace only the damaged guide clips without removing the Headliner or Sunroof Track Assembly.

IMPORTANT:
The purpose of "ACTIONS" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Remove the sunshade (without removing the headliner and sunroof assembly) and replace only deformed guide clips as follows:

1. Close sunroof glass lid.

2. Open the sunshade.





3. Push IN on the back and pull the front toward you to remove the trim plate. Do the same on the other side.








4. Locate and remove 3 lid mounting bolts. (See Figures 2 and 3)





5. Remove the glass lid.





6. Slide sunshade forward to about 1 inch/25 mm from the fully closed position.





7. Use a flat screw driver to push the front sunshade guide clip IN to disengage it from the sunshade guide rail. Repeat the procedure for the other side.





8. Pull the sunshade forward so you can reach the guide clips.





9. Use the same method as Step 7 to disengage the rear sunshade guide clips.

10. Remove the sunshade by sliding it forward.





11. Inspect all four guide clips and remove only the sunshade guide clips that are keeping the sunshade from sliding smoothly in the guides.

The damaged guide clips may be:

^ Bent differently than a new clip

^ and/or out of the guide rails.

12. Install new sunshade guide clips as required.

13. Reinstall the sunshade into the sunroof rail.

NOTE:
Make sure the plastic ends of the guide clips are installed into the rail assembly.

14. Reinstall the glass lid and sunroof guide trim plates.

15. Confirm the sunshade opens and closes smoothly.

16. Check sunroof for water leaks, and if necessary adjust glass.
