IF YOU CONFIRM:

A rattle, ticking, and/or squeak noise coming from the soft-top while driving,

DETERMINE IF:

The noise is coming from the ends of the 2nd bow (see Figure 1).

ACTION:

Apply Felt-Cloth Tape to the ends of the 2nd bow.

CLAIMS INFORMATION

IMPORTANT:
The purpose of "ACTIONS" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

1. Drive the vehicle to confirm the incident noise.





2. While the noise is occurring, push up on the 2nd bow (see Figure 1).

^ If the noise stops, this bulletin applies. Go to step 3.

^ If the noise does not stop, this bulletin does not apply.

3. Open the soft-top to about 1/2 open using the power switch.

^ Soft-top should be straight up (90°) as shown.








4. Locate the end of the second bow (see Figures 2 and 4) and apply felt-cloth tape as follows:





a. Stick two pieces of tape together, about 1/2 overlapped as shown.

NOTE:
Felt-Cloth Tape can be found in the Squeak and Rattle Kit-J-43890 (see Parts Information).

b. Wrap the tape under the end of the 2nd bow as shown.

c. Repeat steps a and b on the other end of the 2nd bow.

5. Drive the vehicle to confirm the noise is gone.
