CLAIMS INFORMATION

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Confirm Water Leak at Left Front Corner of Soft-Top

1. Use a water hose that has an inner diameter of approximately 1/2 inch.

2. Adjust the water pressure:

^ To flow out the end of the hose a distance of about 27 inches,

^ With the hose 39 inches above the ground. (See Figure 2.)

3. Hold the hose approximately 4 inches from the vehicle and run water back and forth across the suspected leak area.

^ Move the hose slowly (approximately 4 inches per second). Moving the hose faster or shaking the hose may cause higher water pressure to be applied to the sealing areas.

^ Do Not use your finger or other method to spray water from the end of the hose.

^ While running water across the suspected leak area, water should not flow/drip into the "cabin" (interior).

IMPORTANT NOTES:
^ If water leaks occur only when using an automatic car wash or high-pressure water spray, no repair is necessary.

^ If water "accumulates" (bunches up) at the inside edge of the side window glass, and then a small amount (couple of drops) trickle down the inside of the glass: This is judged to be OK; no repair is needed.

Repair Water Leak at Left Front Corner of Soft Top

1. Open the soft-top.

2. Locate the weather-strip at the top of the left front A pillar.

3. Roll the weather-strip open to "expose" the area underneath as shown.

^ This area is sealed at the factory using butyl tape (butyl sealer). Gaps or openings (holes) in the butyl sealer will allow water to leak into the vehicle.

^ Butyl tape (butyl sealer) is a sticky, putty-type material commonly used to seal tail light assemblies to the vehicle body.

4. Thoroughly dry the area.

5. Fill any gaps or openings with butyl tape/butyl sealer (see Parts Information). Use enough sealer to make sure the area is completely sealed.

6. Re-check the leak to make sure it is fixed.
