Convertible Top - Storage Lid Cannot Be Opened Manually

TOP STORAGE LID CANNOT BE RAISED AND/OR LOWERED MANUALLY

SERVICE INFORMATION





If for any reason you need to manually lift the Top Storage Lid (see Figure 1 shown) and the Lid does not open easily, refer to the Service Procedure for help.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Open the Rear Trunk Lid.

2. Remove the Trunk Room Floor Carpet and Spare Tire Cover.





3. Carefully remove the Rear Trunk Room Finisher (see Figure 2).

^ Reposition (lift up) the Trunk Lid Molding as needed to remove the Finisher

^ Use a Plastic Pry Tool to carefully remove two Securing Clips and the Inside Trunk Release Handle

^ Pull UP on the Finisher to release the "hidden" securing clips Place the Finisher in a clean, safe location.

4. Carefully remove the Front Trunk Room Finisher (see Figure 2).

^ Reposition (lift up) the Trunk Lid Molding as needed to remove the Finisher.

^ Use a Plastic Pry Tool to carefully remove 12 smaller Securing Clips and 4 larger Securing Clips/Hold Downs.

^ Place the Finisher in a clean, safe location





5. Turn the Top Storage Lid Motors with a 5-mm Allen Wrench (or ratchet with 5-mm Allen bit) while having someone lift UP on the Top Storage Lid. See Figure 3.

^ Turn the drivers side motor counter-clockwise to raise the Top Storage Lid

^ Turn the passenger side motor clockwise to raise the Top Storage Lid

^ Have someone apply constant upward (lifting) pressure on the Top Storage Lid while you turn the motors.
