Interior - Seat Side Finisher Comes Loose

The seat side finisher assembly (see Figure 1) on an Applied Vehicle is coming loose.

ACTIONS:

^ Remove the affected seat(s) from the vehicle.

^ Remove the seat cushion.

^ Replace the adjuster assembly, reclining device inner cover, and seat cushion outer finisher.

NOTE:
If the finisher is coming loose on only one seat, replace parts on only one seat. If the finisher is coming loose on both seats, replace parts on both seats.

^ Re-install the seat cushion.

^ Re-install the seat into the vehicle.

The purpose of ACTIONS (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

WARNING:
^ When removing or installing the seat, be sure to handle it carefully to keep dirt out and avoid damage.

^ Do not drop or hit the side air bag module installed in the seat. Always handle the module with care.

1. Write down all radio station presets.

2. Disconnect both battery cables.

NOTE:
After you've disconnected both battery cables, you must wait at least 3 minutes before moving on to step 3.

3. Remove the affected seat(s) from the vehicle.

^ See section SE/SEAT/Removal and Installation/NET SEAT of the 2004 350Z Roadster Electronic Service Manual (ESM) for instructions.

4. Remove the seat cushion.

5. Replace the adjuster assembly, reclining device inner cover, and seat cushion outer finisher with the parts listed in the PARTS INFORMATION.





NOTE:
This procedure includes the installation of a new screw (listed in the Parts Information), which attaches the reclining device inner cover to the seat cushion outer finisher (see Figure 2). You must install this screw to complete this repair.

6. Re-install the seat cushion.

7. Re-install the seat into the vehicle.

8. Re-connect both battery cables.

9. Re-program the radio station presets you wrote down in step 1.
