IF YOU CONFIRM:

An Applied Vehicle has the following:

^ MIL "ON" with DTC P1283 (A/F Sensor B2) stored, and/or

^ An exhaust 'ticking' noise coming from the engine compartment area.

ACTIONS

a. Inspect the 6 bolts attaching the heat shield to the B2 catalyst to see if any are missing or loose (see Figures 1 and 2 shown).

b. Replace any missing or loose bolts with the self-locking bolt listed in the parts section.

c. Tighten bolts to the following torque spec: 6.5 Nm (0.7 kg-m, 58 in-lb).

d. Clear the DTC P1283, as needed, with CONSULT-II.

NOTE:
All 6 of the bolt holes go completely through to the inside of the B2 catalyst. When any of the 6 bolts are loose or missing, an exhaust leak and/or noise may be produced.
