Service Procedure
Replace the Passenger Air Bag Status Light Control Circuit as follows.CAUTION:
Use suitable covers to protect upholstery, carpet, paint, etc. when performing this procedure.
Altima Procedure
1. Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
2. Remove the Finisher (Cluster Lid C) from around the AC/Heater control panel as follows:
a. Reach under and carefully pull out (towards the rear of the vehicle) (see Figure 1).
b. Disconnect the Vehicle Harness from the Passenger Air Bag Status Light Control Circuit (see Figure 2).
3. Remove one Screw and lift out the Passenger Air Bag Status Light Control Circuit (see Figure 3).
4. Destroy the old Passenger Air Bag Status Light Control Circuit by breaking it in half (so it won't be accidently reinstalled). See Figure 4.
5. Install the new Passenger Air Bag Status Light Control Circuit into Cluster Lid C.
6. Re-connect the Vehicle Harness to the Passenger Air Bag Status Light Control Circuit.
7. Re-install Cluster Lid C.
8. Use CONSULT-II to clear any related DTC(s).
Maxima Procedure
1. Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
2. Remove the Passenger Air Bag Status Light/Security Light Finisher as follows:
a. Use a Plastic Pry Tool to carefully lift up/remove the Passenger Air Bag Status Light/Security Light Finisher (see Figure 5).
b. Disconnect the Vehicle Harness from the Security Light and the Passenger Air Bag Status Light Control Circuit (see Figure 5).
3. Remove one Screw and lift out the Passenger Air Bag Status Light Control Circuit (see Figure 6).
4. Destroy the old Passenger Air Bag Status Light Control Circuit by breaking it in half (so it won't be accidently reinstalled). See Figure 7.
5. Install the new Passenger Air Bag Status Light Control Circuit into the Finisher.
6. Re-connect the Vehicle Harness to the Security Light and the Passenger Air Bag Status Light Control Circuit.
7. Re-install the Passenger Air Bag Status Light/Security Light Finisher.
8. Use CONSULT-II to clear any related DTC(s).
