There is a continuous clicking noise from the A/C system when switching modes,

Use the following Service Procedure to install a new Mode Door Link (see Figure 1).

Submit a Primary Failed Part (PP) line claim using the claims coding shown.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
Use suitable covers to protect upholstery, carpet, trim, etc. when performing this procedure.





1. Turn ignition switch ON and set the A/C Control to the defrost mode (see Figure 2).





2. From under the dash (driver side), remove the Screw and Washer that secures the Mode Door Link (see Figure 3).

3. Remember the orientation of the Mode Door Link and carefully pull the link out.

4. Install the new Mode Door Link and secure it with the original Screw and Washer (do not over tighten). Be sure to verify that the pins on all links are properly aligned.

5. Liberally apply synthetic grease, (such as Mobil SHC 220, synthetic grease, or equiv.) to the link pivot slot and guide pin.

6. Verify operation of the Mode Door Link and mode door.

a. If there is NO clicking noise, the procedure is now complete.

b. If there is clicking noise, confirm the link pins are properly aligned and are not binding during mode operation.

c. If the link pins are not binding during mode operation, refer to the ESM for further diagnosis.
