IMPORTANT:
The purpose of "ACTIONS" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing the repair.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove the mirror:
A. Tilt the mirror all the way UP.
B. Using a plastic trim tool, remove the mirror from the actuator as shown in Figure 1.
^ This will unsnap the mirror from the actuator.
NOTE:
If it is a heated mirror, disconnect the electrical terminal from the mirror.
2. Remove 4 screws in the order shown in Figure 2 (1, 2, 3, 4) and remove the actuator.
3. Disconnect the actuator from the wire harness. See Figure 3.
4. Install the new actuator in the reverse order of removal.
NOTE:
If it is a heated mirror, make sure to connect the electrical terminal to the mirror.
^ Connect the wire harness to the actuator.
^ Install the screws in the order shown in Figure 4.
^ Torque screws 1.1 +/- 0.1 Nm (0.11 +/- 0.01 Kg-m, 9.7 +/- 0.89 lb-in).
5. Install the mirror:
A. Warm the lower mirror tabs with a dryer or equivalent.
CAUTION:
Warm the lower tabs sufficiently before installing the mirror onto the actuator. The tabs may break if they are cold. Be especially careful in colder weather.
B. At the top of the mirror, insert the holder sides (hooks) into the grooved cutouts in the actuator.
c. Then slide the mirror DOWN against the actuator.
6. Press (snap) the top and bottom of the mirror in place.
^ A "snap" can be heard when pressing each section to verify it has been fitted correctly.
7. Use a plastic trim tool to gently lift the lower corners of the mirror to confirm that it is securely snapped into place.
^ If the mirror unsnaps when you're doing this check, go back to step 6.
NOTE:
Plastic "Trim Tool Set J-46534 (an "essential tool") is available from TECHMATE.
8. Confirm that all door mirrors are operating correctly.
