Windows: Description and Operation
POWER WINDOWSystem Description
Power is supplied at all times:
- from 30 A fusible link (letter d , located in the fuse and fusible link box)
- to circuit breaker terminal +,
- through circuit breaker terminal -,
- to power window relay terminal 5.
With ignition switch in ON or START position, power is supplied:
- through 10 A fuse [No. 10, located in the fuse block (J/B)],
- to power window relay terminal 1.
Ground is supplied:
- to power window relay terminal 2
- through body grounds M28 and M54.
The power window relay is energized and power is supplied:
- through power window relay terminal 3,
- to main power window and door lock/unlock switch terminal 1,
- to front power window switch RH terminal 5,
- to rear power window switch LH and RH terminal 5.
MANUAL OPERATION
Front Door LH
Ground is supplied:
- to main power window and door lock/unlock switch terminal 3,
- through body grounds M28 and M54.
WINDOW UP
When the front LH switch in the main power window and door lock/unlock switch is pressed in the up position, power is supplied:
- to front power window motor LH terminal UP,
- through main power window and door lock/unlock switch terminal 9.
Ground is supplied:
- to front power window motor LH terminal DN,
- through main power window and door lock/unlock switch terminal 8.
Then, the motor raises the window until the switch is released, or until the window reaches the end of its travel.
WINDOW DOWN
When the LH switch in the main power window and door lock/unlock switch is pressed in the down position, power is supplied:
- to front power window motor LH terminal DN,
- through main power window and door lock/unlock switch terminal 8.
Ground is supplied:
- to front power window motor LH terminal UP,
- through main power window and door lock/unlock switch terminal 9.
Then, the motor lowers the window until the switch is released, or until the window reaches the end of its travel.
Front Door RH
Ground is supplied:
- to main power window and door lock/unlock switch terminal 3,
- through body grounds M28 and M54.
NOTE: Numbers in parentheses are terminal numbers, when power window switch is pressed in the UP and DOWN positions respectively.
MAIN SWITCH OPERATION
Power is supplied:
- through main power window and door lock/unlock switch (5, 6),
- to front power window switch RH (3, 4).
The subsequent operation is the same as the sub-switch operation.
SUB-SWITCH OPERATION
Power is supplied:
- through front power window switch RH (1, 2),
- to front power window motor RH (UP, DN).
Ground is supplied:
- to front power window motor RH (DN, UP),
- through front power window switch RH (2, 1),
- to front power window switch RH (4, 3),
- through main power window and door lock/unlock switch (6, 5).
Then, the motor raises or lowers the window until the switch is released.
Rear Door
Rear door windows will raise and lower in the same manner as front door RH window.
AUTO OPERATION
The power window AUTO feature enables the driver to open the driver's window without holding the window switch in the down or up position.
The AUTO feature only operates on the driver's window.
POWER WINDOW LOCK
The power window lock is designed to lock operation of all windows except for driver's door window. When the lock switch is pressed to lock position, ground of the sub-switches in the main power window and door lock/unlock switch is disconnected. This prevents the power window motors from operating.
