HOLES in sill panel

Figure 3:

Figure 3 is an example of a sill panel with holes.

If there are holes in the sill panel as shown in Figure 3, continue with the Service Procedure and install the Sill Cover Plate.

Install the Sill Cover Plate

Figure 5:

6. Remove the wire harness mounting clip and move the harness out of the way.

7. Use a gasket scraper to remove any seam sealer from around the holes.

CAUTION:
Do not cut or scrape through the paint when removing the seam sealer.

NOTE:
The cover plate must sit flat against the sheet metal surface.

8. Apply sealant (Liquid Gasket P/N 11121-C9910) around the outside edge of the raised holes / washers on the cover plate.

NOTE:
Sealer and Sill Cover Plate Kit are listed in the Parts Information.

9. Get the bolts (3 short and 2 long) and the 3 lock washers from the Sill Cover Plate kit.

Figure 6:

10. Apply sealant (P/N 11121-C9910) and install lock washers onto the 3 short bolts as shown in Figure 7.

- Make sure the sealant is applied to both sides of the lock washers.

Figure 7:

11. Apply sealant (P/N 11121-C9910) on the 2 long bolts as shown in Figure 8.

12. Get the 2 threaded bars (one with 2 holes and one with 3 holes) from the Sill Cover Plate Kit.

Figure 8:

13. Insert the 2 long bolts through the top 2 holes in the cover plate and thread them (4 to 5 threads) into the threaded bars as shown in Figure 9.

- Make sure the washers with sealant are towards the threaded bars.
- Match the cover plate holes with threaded bar holes (3 to 3 and 2 to 2).

- The 2 long bolts should be threaded into the rounded end of each threaded bar.

Figure 9:

14. Insert the threaded bars into the top 2 holes of the vehicle sill panel as shown.

- The 2 hole bar goes toward the front of the vehicle.
- Match the sill plate holes with the threaded bar holes (2 to 2 and 3 to 3).

Figure 10:

15. Make sure that the 5 washers on the back side of the cover plate are fully seated into the 5 holes in the sill panel (see Figure 11).
- The cover plate must sit flat against the sill panel.

Figure 11:

16. Install the 3 short bolts into the 3 empty holes.

Figure 12:

17. Torque all 5 bolts in the order shown in Figure 12.

Torque setting: 69 N-m (7.03 Kg-m, 50 ft.lb)

Figure 13:

18. Apply sealant (P/N 11121-C9910) around the outer edge of the cover plate.

Figure 14:

19. Cut off the original harness clip / tiewrap.

Figure 15:
