CAUTION:
Do not cut or scrape through the paint when removing the seam sealer.

NOTE:
The cover plate will need to sit flat against the sheet metal surface.

8. Apply sealant (Liquid Gasket P/N 11121-C9910) around the outside edge of the raised holes / washers on the cover plate.

NOTE:
Sealer and Sill Cover Plate Kit are listed in the Parts Information.

9. Get the 5 short bolts and the 5 lock washers from the Sill Cover Plate kit.

10. Apply sealant (P/N 11121-C9910) and install lock washers onto the 5 short bolts as shown in Figure 4.

^ Make sure the sealant is applied to both sides of the lock washers.

11. Get the 2 long bolts and the 2 threaded bars (one with 2 holes and one with three holes) from the Sill Cover Plate Kit.

12. Insert the two long bolts through the top two holes in the cover plate and thread them (3 to 4 threads) into the threaded bars as shown in Figure 5.

^ Make sure the washers with sealant are towards the threaded bars.

^ Match the cover plate holes with threaded bar holes (3 to 3 and 2 to 2).

^ The 2 long bolts should be threaded into the rounded end of each threaded bar.

NOTE:
If both ends of the 3 hole threaded bar are rounded, start the bolt in the hole with the yellow dot.

13. Insert the threaded bars into the top two holes of the vehicle sill plate as shown.

^ The cover plate must sit flat against the sill plate.

15. Install 3 of the short bolts into the 3 empty holes and torque to 27 N-m (2.76 Kg-m, 20 ftlb).

The torque setting in step 15 is only a preliminary torque needed to hold the threaded bars in place.

16. Remove the 2 long bolts.

^ Long bolts can be discarded.

17. Install the last 2 short bolts where the 2 long bolts were removed.

18. Torque all 5 bolts in the order shown in Figure 9.

Final torque setting:

69 N-m (7.03 Kg-m, 50 ftlb)

19. Apply sealant (P/N 11121-C9910) around the outer edge of the cover plate.

20. Cut off the original harness clip / tie-wrap.

21. Install the insulating pad around the harness as shown.
