Replace Rear Center Seatbelt (Only If Needed)
Replace Rear Center Seatbelt (only if needed)1. Snap loose the rear seat cushion (pull up on each corner).
^ Pull up in the area shown by arrows in Figure 8.
2. Slide the rear seat cushion forward.
3. Remove the center belt anchor bolt.
4. Pull the center belt through the seat cushion.
5. Remove the rear seat cushion from the vehicle and place it in a clean area.
6. Fold down the left side (driver side) rear seatback.
7. Unhook the cloth on the back of the seat and fold away from the bolts (see Figure 10).
8. Remove the 4 seat back mounting bolts shown in Figure 10.
9. Remove the seatback from the vehicle and place it in a clean working area.
10. On the side of the seatback, remove the latch cover (see Figure 11).
^ Remove the push pin clips and then remove the cover.
^ Use a plastic trim tool as needed.
11. Unzip both sides of the seat cover.
12. Remove the head restraint.
13. Remove the head restraint holders.
^ Squeeze the clips and then push the holders out.
14. Remove the seatbelt guide as follows:
a. Snap the front loose.
b. Left the guide from the seat.
c. Slip the belt through the slot in the guide.
15. If equipped, remove the armrest as follows:
a. Remove the 2 armrest nuts shown.
b. Pivot the armrest away from the seatback.
^ One hinge will say on the armrest and the other hinge will stay on the seatback.
c. For the hinge that stays on the seatback, remove the hinge bushing.
^ Place the bushing in a safe place until needed for reassembly.
d. Remove the hinge cover by pulling it forward as shown.
16. If equipped with an arm rest, do the following:
a. Release the 5 hog rings shown in Figure 20.
b. Disconnect the seat cover plastic hook / channel shown in Figure 20.
NOTE:
Carefully handle the clear plastic insulator (see Figure 20) when removing the seat cover and cushion from the frame. The plastic insulator will need to be reinstalled / reused.
17. Remove the seat cover and cushion from the seat frame.
18. Remove the plastic cover shown in Figure 21 (it is held on with 2 screws).
19. Remove the old seatbelt as follows:
a. Remove the seatbelt cover.
^ It hooks on at the top.
b. Remove the plastic seatbelt guide.
^ It is held on with 3 screws.
c. Remove the seatbelt mounting nut (see Figure 24).
20. Install the new seatbelt in reverse order.
Torque mounting nut to:
49 Nm (5.0 kg-m, 36 ft-lb)
21. Cut the old seatbelt so it is unusable, and then discard it.
22. Reassemble the seat and reinstall all parts removed in the reverse order.
Note the following during reassembly:
^ Make sure the head restrain holder with the lock button is installed in the location shown.
Torque the 4 seatback mounting bolts to:
28.4 Nm (2.9 kg-m, 21 ft-lb).
^ Route the center seatbelt through the seat cushion as shown in Figure 27.
^ Torque the center belt anchor bolt to 49 Nm (5.0 kg-m, 36 ft-lb).
^ Tuck the cargo area cloth above the backing plate (see Figure 27).
^ Make sure the cargo area cloth is tucked under the cargo area trim (see Figure 28).
23. Make sure the rear center seatbelt latches correctly.
