APPLIED VEHICLES: 2010-2011 Maxima (A35)
IF YOU CONFIRM:
The Steering Wheel Controls for the Navigation System and Audio System do not respond.
AND
The Navigation System does not respond when using the touch panel (screen).
OR
With the NAVI screen
> in 2-D view mode the cross-pointer locator graphic appears (see Figure 1a)
or
> in Birdview(TM) (3-D) mode the vehicle locator circular arrows appear (see Figure 1b)
when the screen is not being touched.
ACTION:
Check if cluster lid "D" is in contact with the screen.
For inspection and repairs, refer to REPAIR PROCEDURE.

The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire REPAIR PROCEDURE as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing the repair.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
INSPECT Gap Between Touch Panel And Cluster Lid "D"
Insert a "business card" or suitable piece of paper between the screen and cluster lid "D" on all sides (see dotted line in Figure 2).
^ If the card will not fit in between, refer to Adjust Gap Between Touch Panel And Cluster Lid "D".
^ If the card does fit (cluster lid "D" does not touch the screen), this bulletin does not apply.
> Refer to N, DRIVER INFORMATION & MULTIMEDIA, AV Audio, Visual & Navigation System in the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) for further diagnosis.
Adjust Gap Between Touch Panel And Cluster Lid "D"
1. Remove cluster lid "D" from the instrument panel (see Figure 2).
^ Refer to J BODY INTERIOR, IP Instrument Panel in the ESM, if needed.
2. Inspect the three (3) bracket screws (A) for tightness (see Figure 3).
^ Make sure all three (3) dowels fit properly in their bracket holes (C).
3. If ok, remove the screen with bracket.
4. Inspect all four (4) screws fastening the screen to the bracket.
^ Make sure none of the screws (B) are loose or cross-threaded.
> Straighten and tighten the screws as necessary.
5. Reinstall the bracket with screen to the instrument panel.
6. Reinstall cluster lid "D".
^ Refer to the ESM as needed.
7. Re-check gap between cluster lid "D" and the screen.
8. If ok, verify the Navigation System works properly.
