Reference: NTB11-026

Date: March 10, 2011

VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN 2011 JUKE ECM REPROGRAM

CAMPAIGN I.D. #: P0396

APPLIED VEHICLE: 2011 Juke (F15)

Check Service Comm to confirm campaign eligibility.

INTRODUCTION

Nissan has determined that some model year 2011 Juke vehicles manufactured through December 13, 2010 are equipped with an improperly functioning on-board diagnostics (OBD) system that may illuminate a Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) when a malfunction does not exist. To remedy this condition, Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Service Campaign to reprogram the Engine Control Module (ECM) at no charge for parts or labor.

IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

Nissan has assigned identification number P0396 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communications and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY

Dealers are to correct each vehicle falling within the range of this campaign that enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in a dealers inventory.

REPAIR OVERVIEW

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Connect C-III to the vehicle to begin the reprogramming procedure.

CAUTION

2. When you get to the ECM Reprogramming screen shown in Figure 1 above, confirm this bulletin applies as follows:

A. On your C-III screen, look at the Part Number column (see Figure 1):

^ If this column is blank (no part number listed), this campaign does not apply or it has already been done. Close C-III and disconnect from the vehicle, then recheck Service Comm for campaign eligibility.

^ If a Part Number is listed, write it on the Repair Order.

B. Compare the Part Number you wrote down to the number in the Current ECM Part Number list in Table A above.

^ If there is a match, this bulletin applies. Continue with the reprogramming procedure.

NOTE:
If there is a match to two lines (two reprogramming options) on your C-III screen, use the one that does not have the message "Caution! Use ONLY with NTBXX-XXX".

^ If there is not a match, this campaign does not apply or it has already been done. Close C-III and disconnect from the vehicle, then recheck Service Comm for campaign eligibility.

3. If this bulletin applies and you have performed ECM reprogramming, the screen in Figure 2 appears when reprogramming is complete.

NOTE:
If the screen in Figure 2 does not display (reprogramming does not complete).

NOTE:
^ This bulletin does not cover any specific customer concern.

^ Performing the ECM reprogramming in this bulletin will allow the EVAP Vent Control Valve to be operated with C-III in "Active Test" or "Work Support" mode.

^ Additional diagnostics may be needed if there are specific concerns.
