SERVICE PROCEDURE1. Connect the CONSULT PC to the vehicle.
2. Open ASIST (if not already open) on the CONSULT PC and then start C-III plus.
3. Wait for the plus VI to be recognized / connected.
^ The serial number will display when the plus VI is recognized / connected.
4. Select Diagnosis (One System) then TRANSMISSION and then Work Support.
^ If replacing the TCM only, skip to "IF REPLACING ONLY THE TCM".
^ If replacing the CVT (with or without new TCM) continue to step 5.
IF AFTER REPLACING THE CVT
CAUTION:
Do not erase the Calibration Data unless replacing the CVT. If ERASE CALIBRATION DATA is selected without CD data disk, the repair cannot be completed.
Erasing Calibration Data:
5. Select ERASE CALIBRATION DATA, and then Start.
6. Before selecting Start, follow directions in Figure 3 instead of on CONSULT screen.
7. After ERASE CALIBRATION DATA has completed, select End.
8. Turn the ignition OFF for at least 10 seconds.
^ While the ignition is OFF, shift vehicle back into park (P).
9. Release the throttle pedal.
10. Proceed to Write Calibration Data After CVT Replacement.
Write Calibration Data After Replacing The CVT:
1. With the CONSULT PC still connected to the vehicle, connect the external disk drive to the CONSULT PC.
NOTE:
Use external disk drive provided with C-III plus kit.
2. Choose correct calibration file disk (provided with CVT) and load it into external disc drive.
^ Verify the specific calibration file disk serial number for the vehicle CVT is correct (serial numbers are printed on the CVT and file disk).
3. Select WRITE IP CHARA - REPLACEMENT AT/CVT from Work Support menu, and then Start.
IMPORTANT:
When starting the calibration "write" procedure in C-III plus, and after selecting Start under Work Support, the C-III screen may only blink.
^ If this occurs first close and restart ASIST, and then perform step 3 above.
> If there is still no change after restarting ASIST, reboot the CONSULT PC, keep ASIST closed, and then open CIII plus directly (without ASIST). Perform step 3 above.
> If error "STOPPED, no comm. with ECU" shows when trying to write calibration data, verify that the vehicle is in park (P).
4. Select OK.
5. Select My Computer.
6. Select DVD/CD-RW Drive (F:)
7. Highlight the File and then select Open.
8. Verify that the serial number matches the CVT, and then select Next.
