Manual Transmission/Transaxle: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Shift transmission into neutral and remove shift lever boot.
3. Remove transmission shift lever.
4. Raise and support vehicle.
5. Disconnect parking brake cable for removal clearance, then remove propeller shaft.
6. Remove skid plate and transfer case if used.
7. Disconnect vehicle speed sensor and electrical wiring harnesses as needed.
8. Remove exhaust pipes.
9. Remove slave cylinder from transmission.
10. Remove transmission mount retaining bolts and support transmission.
11. Remove catalytic converter hanger and any support braces if needed.
12. Remove transmission crossmember.
13. Remove transmission-to-bellhousing retaining bolts and support the clutch release bearing.
14. Remove transmission.
15. Reverse procedure to install.
