Tools Required
* J 39761-A Door Hinge Spring Tool
* J 36604 Door Hinge Spring Compressor
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the body hinge pillar trim panel.
2. Remove the rubber grommet from the door and the B-pillar.
3. Remove the cross-body wire harness connector.
4. Apply cloth-backed tape to the door and the B-pillar in order to protect the door and the B-pillar from scratches.
5. Use the J 39761-A in order to remove the door hinge spring.
6. Remove the door hinge roller pin.
7. Remove the hinge pin using a soft-faced hammer and locking pliers.
8. Temporarily install a bolt through the lower hinge in order to hold the door in place.
9. Remove the upper hinge pin.
10. Remove the temporary bolt from the lower hinge.
11. Remove the door from the vehicle.
12. Remove and discard the door hinge pin bushings.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the new door hinge pin bushings.
2. Install the door to the vehicle.
3. Temporarily install a bolt through the lower hinge in order to hold the door in place.
4. Install the upper hinge pin.
Ensure that the pointed end of the pin is pointing upward.
5. Remove the temporary bolt from the lower hinge.
6. Install the lower hinge pin.
Ensure that the pointed end of the pin is pointing downward.
7. Install the new hinge pin retainers to the hinge pins.
8. Install the door hinge roller pin.
9. Use the J 36604 in order to install the door hinge spring.
10. Remove the tape from the door and the B-pillar.
11. Install the cross-body wire harness connector.
12. Install the rubber conduit to the door and the B-pillar.
13. Install the body hinge pillar trim panel.
