OnStar(R) GPS Antenna Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Remove the left front sunshade. Refer to Sunshade Replacement in Interior Trim.
2. Remove the left front windshield garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar in Interior Trim.
3. Remove the I/P trim panel. Refer to Trim Pad Replacement - IP in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Warning Indicators.
4. Untape the global positioning sensor (GPS) antenna coaxial cable from the Onstar(R) harness and unroute from the instrument panel.
5. Disconnect the global positioning sensor (GPS) antenna coaxial cable from the vehicle interface unit (VIU).
6. Remove the antenna from the windshield and the roof panel.
7. Clean the old residue from the windshield using a razor blade and isopropyl alcohol.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Mark the antenna location on the front windshield 2 mm (0.079 in) down from the black-out area and 30 mm (1.18 in) from the side black-out area using a grease pencil.
2. Prepare the interior glass using isopropyl alcohol pad and a clean lint-free cloth.
3. Remove the backing paper from the antenna housing and start the removal of the backing on the metallic strip.
4. Install the global positioning sensor (GPS) antenna onto the left side of the inside windshield, 2 mm (0.079 in) down from the black-out area and 30 mm (1.18 in) from the side black-out area.
5. Pull down gently on the headliner to allow optimum placement and adhesion of the global positioning sensor (GPS) antenna and grounding tab.
6. Remove the backing from the metallic strip and adhere the global positioning sensor (GPS) antenna to the roof.
7. Connect the global positioning sensor (GPS) antenna coaxial cable to the vehicle interface unit (VIU).
8. Route the global positioning sensor (GPS) antenna coaxial cable through the instrument panel and up the left front A-pillar.
9. Tape the global positioning sensor (GPS) antenna coaxial cable to the Onstar(R) harness.
10. Install the I/P trim panel. Refer to Trim Pad Replacement - IP in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Warning Indicators.
11. Install the left front windshield garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar in Interior Trim.
12. Install the left front sunshade. Refer to Sunshade Replacement in Interior Trim.
