Evaporator Tube Replacement - Outlet

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
2. Remove the cruise control module mounting bracket bolts.
3. Remove the cruise control module mounting bracket.
4. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
5. Remove the left wiper arm linkage nuts. Reposition the left wiper arm linkage for access.
6. Remove the evaporator outlet tube to TXV nut.
7. Disconnect the evaporator outlet tube from the TXV.
8. Disconnect the evaporator inlet tube from the TXV.




9. Remove the evaporator outlet tube bracket bolt.
10. Remove the evaporator outlet tube to suction line fitting bolt.
11. Disconnect the evaporator outlet tube from the suction line.
12. Remove the evaporator outlet tube from the vehicle.
13. Remove and discard the sealing washers.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the A/C refrigerant line and the A/C refrigerant component.
2. Lightly coat the new sealing washers with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
3. Install the sealing washers.
4. Install the evaporator outlet tube to the vehicle.
5. Connect the evaporator outlet tube to the suction line.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

6. Install the evaporator outlet tube bolt at the suction line.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

7. Connect the evaporator inlet tube to the evaporator outlet tube.
8. Connect the evaporator inlet and outlet tubes to the TXV.




9. Install the evaporator outlet tube nut at the TXV.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).




10. Install the evaporator outlet tube bracket bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 5.5 N.m (48.7 lb in).

11. Install the air cleaner assembly.
12. Install the left wiper arm linkage.
13. Install the left wiper arm linkage nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

14. Install the cruise control module mounting bracket.
15. Install the cruise control module mounting bracket bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

16. Evacuate and recharge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
17. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
