Water in Jack Compartment (Reinstall Grommet)

Models:
2001-2003 Chevrolet Venture
2001-2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette
2001-2003 Pontiac Montana

Condition

Some customers may comment that there is water in the jack compartment.

Cause

This condition may be due to the power sliding side door grommet not being properly seated.

Correction

1. Open the lift gate.





2. Remove the RH seat belt cover by pushing down to release the top tab.





3. Place a 12 inch extension on the plastic housing keeping it as far rearward as possible. Refer to the illustration above for the proper placement.





4. This illustration shows the wrong placement of the extension.

5. With a 12 inch extension kept rearward for maximum forward motion, strike the extension with a hammer until the grommet is seated.

6. Verify grommet is seated properly by doing a water test.

7. Reinstall the seat belt cover.
