Headlamp Low Beam Bulb Socket Now Available For Service Use

Models:
2002-2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer, TrailBlazer EXT
2002-2003 GMC Envoy, Envoy XL
2002-2003 Oldsmobile Bravada

The headlamp low beam bulb socket is now available for service use. Previously, the entire headlamp assembly had to be replaced if the low beam bulb socket needed replacement.

Use the following procedure to replace the headlamp low beam bulb socket:

1. Remove the headlamp assembly. Refer to the Headlamp Replacement procedure in SI.

2. Remove the low beam headlamp bulb. Refer to the Headlamp Bulb Replacement procedure in SI (Document ID # 742035).

3. Cut off the original low beam bulb socket from the headlamp harness and splice in a new bulb socket, P/N 88987884. Refer to the Splicing Copper Wire Using Splice Sleeves procedure in SI (Document ID # 303648) for instructions on how to use splice sleeves for this repair.

The splice sleeves are salmon colored and are P/N 12089189. Replace the low beam headlamp bulb if required. Please note that this bulb has been provided by various suppliers in the past. The preferred bulb to use is currently supplied by Sylvania, P/N 1999366.

4. Install the headlamp bulb back into the headlamp assembly. Refer to the Headlamp Bulb Replacement procedure in SI (Document ID # 742035).

5. Install the headlamp assembly. Refer to the Headlamp Replacement procedure in SI.

6. Verify the operation of both headlamps.
