Pulse of Air Discharge, Air Gust, Hiss From Rear of Passenger Compartment (Replace Electronic Controlled Air Suspension (ECAS) Muffler/Filter)

Condition
Some customers may comment that they hear a pulse of air discharge, an air gust, or a short hiss intermittently from the rear of the passenger compartment while driving.
Cause
After the ECAS compressor runs, the system exhausts/vents in order to relieve head pressure in the compressor. The ECAS muffler/filter, located in the right rear quarter trim panel, may inadequately dampen the noise.
Correction
Follow the service procedure below to repair this condition.
1. Open the rear lift gate.
2. Remove the inflator access panel.
3. Remove the auxiliary air outlet retaining nut and washer.
4. Remove the inflator switch bezel from the trim panel.
5. Remove and discard the ECAS muffler/filter that is taped to the wiring harness.
6. Install the new ECAS muffler/filter, P/N 88892654.
7. Feed the auxiliary air outlet through the hole in the inflator bezel.
8. Install the inflator switch bezel to the trim panel
9. Install the auxiliary air outlet washer and retaining nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 2 Nm (18 lb in).
10. Install the inflator access panel.
11. Close the lift gate.
