A new second design Harmonic Balancer is being used on the 4.2L engine. The new second design may be used to replace the previous first design.

All first design balancers should be removed using the J 44226 removal tool. The second design balancer should be removed with a standard three jaw puller. Refer to the Engine Mechanical sub-section of the appropriate Service Manual for complete removal and installation procedures.





The illustration shows the first and second design parts.





Parts Information

The part numbers have been changed as well. GMSPO has cancelled and replaced the first design part number with the second design part number.
