Condition
Some customers may comment on a lack of fidelity from the Bose(R) radio. This may be described as a lack of bass response or a poor overall sound quality.
Cause
The radio was programmed with an incorrect equalization curve. Vehicles equipped with the UC6 and UQA Bose(R) radio options require that the radio be programmed with a flat equalization curve.
Correction
Using the TIS 2000 software, reprogram the radio using the Tech 2 Diagnostic Scan Tool. Refer to the TIS 2000 user's guide and the Tech 2 Diagnostic Scan Tool Programming Guide for specific Instructions. Please observe the following exceptions when reprogramming the radio:
Important:
If the vehicle is equipped with the optional rear seat DVD player, the fuse must be pulled in order to complete the radio reprogramming.
- If the vehicle is equipped with the optional rear seat DVD player, the OH BATT/ONSTAR fuse (# 26-XUV only, # 27-all others) must be pulled in order to complete the radio reprogramming.
- When at the TIS 2000 terminal, the radio reprogramming option may open multiple file folders for additional updates. You must make a decision in each visible file folder. You will see a check appear on the tab of the folder after your selection is made.
- When reprogramming the radio in-vehicle, you should select "Program ECU" from the Tech 2 display.
- The TIS 2000 software will require the radio part number. Please use P/N 15083394.
