Liftgate Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the rear wiper arm. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Arm Replacement.
2. Remove the rear washer nozzle. Refer to Rear Window Washer Nozzle Replacement.
3. Open and support the liftgate.
4. Remove the liftgate pull strap. Refer to Liftgate Pull Strap Replacement (Pullstrap Replacement - Liftgate) .
5. Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement (Service and Repair) .
6. Remove the liftgate wiring harness. Refer to Liftgate Wiring Harness Replacement (Service and Repair) .
7. Remove the rear speakers from the liftgate. Refer to Radio Rear Speaker Replacement.
8. Remove the wiper motor. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement.
9. Place protective coverings over adjacent body panels.
10. With a grease pencil mark the location of the liftgate hinge to the liftgate.
11. Remove the struts from the liftgate. Refer to Liftgate Strut Replacement (Service and Repair) .
12. With an assistant, remove the bolts from the liftgate hinge.




13. With an assistant, remove the liftgate from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. With an assistant, align marks on liftgate with liftgate hinges.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. With an assistant, install the liftgate hinge bolts.

Tighten the hinge bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

3. Install the liftgate struts. Refer to Liftgate Strut Replacement (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the protective coverings.
5. Install the wiper motor. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement.
6. Install the rear speakers to the liftgate. Refer to Radio Rear Speaker Replacement.
7. Install the liftgate wiring harness. Refer to Liftgate Wiring Harness Replacement (Service and Repair) .
8. Install the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement (Service and Repair) .
9. Install the liftgate pull strap. Refer to Liftgate Pull Strap Replacement (Pullstrap Replacement - Liftgate) .
10. Remove the support and close the liftgate.
11. Install the rear washer nozzle. Refer to Rear Window Washer Nozzle Replacement.
12. Install the rear wiper arm. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Arm Replacement.
