Load Sensors
Fig. 8 Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system.:
1. Partially spearate load sensor connector, ensuring that continuity between sensor and harness is maintained.
2. Turn ignition switch to on position and measure feed voltage (wires 113 and 115), Fig. 8. If feed voltage is not 8 volts, check for damaged wiring between sensor and ECM or defective ECM.
3. With ignition on, check sensor output voltage (wires 112 and 114), Fig. 8, while moving injection pump lever through travel.
4. If output voltage is not 2 volts with sensor uncovered and 5 volts with sensor covered, sensor should be replaced.
NOTE: When replacing load sensor, ensure that distance from rear shoulder of sensor to sector is adjusted to 1.414-1.420 inches to ensure proper air gap between sensor and sector. Also ensure sensor with green ring is installed in position stamped with letter "V".
