To identify an engine by the manufacturer's code, follow the four steps designated by the numbered blocks.

Driver's side top of instrument panel, visible through windshield.




(1) MODEL YEAR IDENTIFICATION:

10th character of VIN

1990 - L
1989 - K
1988 - J
1987 - H
1986 - G
1985 - F
1984 - E
1983 - D
1982 - C
1981 - B





(2) ENGINE CODE LOCATION:


1984-81 - 6th character of VIN. All others - Prefix to engine number, stamped on engine block.
