SUBJECT: NOISY OR INOPERATIVE ELECTRIC IN-TANK PRIMING PUMP

MODELS: 505 GAS SEDANS (EXCEPT 1988 MODELS AND 1987 MODELS EQUIPPED WITH GRAVITY FEED FUEL TANKS)
THIS BULLETIN SUPERCEDES THE FOLLOWING SERVICE BULLETINS:

190, 198, 208, 245, & 250

NOTE: Discard these Service Bulletins (Nos. 245 & 250) only after your parts stock of sound-proofing kits and gravity feed fuel tanks has been depleted.


COMPLAINT: High pitch humming (or buzzing) noise emitted by the priming pump and audible in the passenger compartment

OR

In-tank priming pump inoperative (cavitation noise from main fuel pump)


A new design in tank fuel priming pump is now available which combines improved long-life motor brushes and a low rpm relatively noise-free motor. THEREFORE, SOUND-PROOFING KITS AND GRAVITY FEED FUEL TANKS WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE. PMA'S PARTS STOCK IS DEPLETED.



RECOMMENDED REPAIR AND PART REQUIRED:

Install a new type in-tank priming pump P/N 0014.M1
