Spark Test

1. Remove distributor cap, then rotate crankshaft by hand until vanes of trigger wheel are positioned on either side of pulse generator pole piece, Fig. 2.
2. Disconnect coil lead from distributor cap and place ignition switch in on position.
3. Hold end of coil lead approximately 3/8 inch from suitable ground, as far away from ignition control amplifier as possible, then alternately pass blade of screwdriver approximately .010 inch in front of pulse generator core, Fig. 2.
4. Spark should jump from coil lead to ground each time screwdriver passes pole piece.
5. If no spark is observed, check continuity ignition primary wiring and repair if needed.
6. If wiring is satisfactory, test pulse generator, ignition coil and amplifier module, and replace as needed.
