Using an HC-CO Meter


1. Adjust the idle speed to 900 RPM.
2. Disconnect the lambda sensor.
3. Connect the HC-CO analyzer onto the catalytic converter tap.
4. The CO reading should be 0.43% - 0.47%. If the reading is incorrect, adjust the idle mixture as follows:

5. Remove the connecting boot between the metering distributor and the throttle flap housing (1) Fig. 8.
6. Remove the fuel injection cut-out on deceleration hose (2) Fig. 8.

7. Remove the fuel delivery and return hoses to the fuel tank (3) Fig. 9.
8. Remove the fuel delivery and return hoses to the control pressure regulator (4) Fig. 9.
9. Remove the fuel metering distributor (5) Fig. 9 (4 screws).

10. Remove the anti-stall stop (6) Fig. 10.
11. Drive the do not tamper plug (7) Fig. 10 out of the housing.
12. Reinstall the components previously removed.
13. Adjust the idle mixture screw to obtain a 0.45% CO reading.

NOTE: Before each reading remove the adjustment tool from the adjusting screw.

14. Reconnect the lambda sensor.
15. Recheck the idle speed, adjusting it if necessary.
16. Install a new do not tamper plug.
