Sunroof - Drain Leaks On Carpet
86peugeot03BULLETIN NO. 182
DATE: June, 1986
SUBJECT: FRONT DRAIN TUBES FROM SUNROOF ROUTED INCORRECTLYWATER ACCUMULATION ON FRONT FLOOR CARPETS
INFORMATION:
Should water accumulation on the front floor carpets be observed after rain or washing of the vehicle, the incorrect routing of one or both front sunroof drain tubes at the kickpanel is the most likely cause.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
- To gain access to the drain tube locations, first pull the weatherstrip from the door opening where it holds the kickpanel/speaker grille in place.
- Pull out and back on the kickpanel/speaker grill making sure not to damage speaker wires or the speaker which is mounted to this panel.
- On the passenger side a screw on the front of the panel has to be removed. On the turbo models it might sometimes be necessary to remove the footrest/ignition E.C.U. cover to gain access to this screw.
- This will reveal if the drain tube is routed incorrectly to the vehicle interior as shown below.
- Relocate the drain tube correctly behind the sheet metal, making sure that the drain tube is not kinked but hangs freely straight down.
REINSTALLATION:
- Reinstall the kickpanel in the reverse order of removal taking particular care not to:
^ damage the speaker
^ pull the speaker wire connector apart
^ pull the wires from the speaker terminals or locate the speaker wires in such a way that they may be cut between the kickpanel and the sheet metal.
- Also ensure that the locating tab on the front of the kick panel/speaker grill is correctly located inside the sheet metal in order to hold panel securely in place.
CHECK:
- Open sunroof and pour some water into the front drain hole in question, and observe the water run to the ground behind the front wheel.
- Turn on the radio to ensure that the involved speaker is working.
