Sunroof - Panel Rattles

SUBJECT: 505 SUNROOF REPAIRS

SUPPLEMENT TO SERVICE BULLETIN NO. 194 (1986 PEUGEOT 505)

COMPLAINT: Sunroof panel rattles, mostly noticeable when the mobile panel is halfway or fully opened.

PARTS REQUIRED: 2 front sliding pad helical springs, P/N 0084.69



RECOMMENDED REPAIR:

1. Remove mobile panel trim liner (1) using tool shown on page 3 of Service Bulletin No. 194.

2. Remove front sliding pad brackets (2).

3. Insert a new helical spring (3) P/N 0084.69 between the front sliding pads (4) and shaft of brackets (2).

4. Retighten the sliding pad brackets (2). NOTE: Do not push the brackets (2) outward while tightening the securing nut as the helical spring is already preloading the sliding pad into the rail.

5. Check alignment of mobile sunroof panel, adjust if necessary using shims P/N 6947.25 between the sliding pad brackets and the mobile panel to raise it or by adjusting sunroof frame to lower it.



6. Ensure that a piece of insulating foam is installed over each of the mobile crossmember bolt heads (5).




7. Ensure that the sunroof cable rubber guide pad (6) P/N 0084.01 is installed onto the forward edge of the sunroof mobile panel and that a piece of insulating foam is installed directly above it.



8. Reinstall mobile panel trim liner; if necessary replace broken clips (P/N 6991.87).
