Preliminary Conditions

1. Warm the engine (wait for two full cycles of the fan clutch).
2. Fan clutch released.
3. Check to see that the ignition timing is properly adjusted.
4. Check to see that the air filter is clean, in good condition, and is properly installed.
5. Check for any intake air leaks.
6. Check for proper setting of the throttle flap position.
7. Ensure that the transmission is in park (neutral for manual transmissions).
8. Set parking brake.
9. Ensure that all electrical accessories (air conditioning, headlights, rear defogger, etc.) are off.
