Brakes - Evaluation to Reduce Brake Pulsation

88peugeot01

BULLETIN NO. 268 8

DATE: January, 1988 15

SUBJECT: BRAKE SQUEAL/GRINDING NOISE

MODELS: 1988 ONLY (SEE BELOW)

As an evaluation to reduce brake pulsation, 100 1988 vehicles have been equipped with abrasive coated brake pads in production. These vehicles will exhibit a certain amount of brake squeal combined with slight "grinding noise" during break-in only. This condition could last up to a maximum of 1000 miles with "light" driving, but usually will disappear within several hundred miles.

DO NOT REPLACE BRAKE PADS ON THESE VEHICLES FOR THIS TYPE OF NOISE, UNLESS A VERIFIED DEFECT IS PRESENT. REFER ANY QUESTIONS TO YOUR REGIONAL SERVICE TECHNICAL REPRESENTATIVE.
