Engine - Valve Cover Baffle Changed

87peugeot01
BULLETIN NO. 258 ( 1)

DATE: November, 1987 (69)
SUBJECT: 1988 505 TURBO SERVICING RECOMMENDATIONS

On 1988 Model Year turbo engines N9TE and N9TEA the valve cover baffle located under the oil filler neck has been changed.

The recommendations indicated below must be followed when using high volume engine oil dispensers to refill or top-up the engine crankcase.

NOTE: High volume engine oil dispensers can cause the oil to back up in the valve cover baffle and drip down the P.C.V. hose and air induction system. If this occurs, a certain amount of oil smoke will be emitted from the tailpipe.

Servicing Recommendations:

Prior to adding engine oil:

- Loosen P.C.V. hose clamp (1) and disconnect P.C.V. hose from valve cover (2)

- Plug the valve cover P.C.V. fitting (3)

- Remove oil filler cap and slowly refill crankcase

- Check oil level, top up if necessary

- Remove plug and clean any traces of engine oil from inside P.V.C. fitting

- Reconnect P.C.V. hose and tighten hose clamp
