91PEUGEOT01
BULLETIN NO. 01/91
DATE: January, 1991
SUBJECT: INTERSTATE REPLACEMENT BATTERY PROGRAM
Peugeot Motors of America, Inc. (PMA) is pleased to announce the availability of Interstate Replacement Batteries which are to be used during warranty repairs. This program is one additional step taken in our continuing efforts to improve customer satisfaction with the Peugeot Vehicle.
Interstate Batteries offers a full service battery program including:
1) All batteries are delivered wet, acid activated and load tested twice
2) Complete battery inventory is on consignment at each dealer
3) Interstate Batteries does all ordering, stocking and adjustments at your dealership
4) Removal and replacement of any battery in inventory that is 90 days old (from factory date), insures fresh stock and eliminates obsolescense
5) Regularly scheduled route service every three (3) weeks (for stock replenishment and removal of any defective units)
6) Same day or overnight emergency stock replacement service in most areas
It is PMA's belief that the Interstate Batteries Dealer Network, which has over 170,000 dealers from coast to coast, can be of assistance to our Peugeot owners. Interstate Batteries also supplies a Toll Free Number (1-800-USA-4100) which may be used by our customers for Interstate warranty adjustment. Consumers can also use the Interstate Dealer Location Hotline (1-800-CRANK IT) for the nearest dealer.
Effective January, 1991, PMA's National Parts Department will no longer supply replacement batteries. Peugeot Motors of America, Inc. has authorized the Interstate Mega-Tron 42L-60 Replacement Battery which will comply with electrical specifications for all Peugeot Vehicles.
By means of this bulletin, we would like to advise you of the two (2) separate and distinct procedures that must be followed when installing an Interstate Replacement Battery. The first being an ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT FAILURE; and the second, REPLACEMENT OF A PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED INTERSTATE BATTERY.
A) ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT FAILURE
Should a vehicle encounter a battery failure within the New Vehicle Limited Warranty of Three (3) Years and/or 36,000 Miles, whichever first occurs, PMA will reimburse the dealer for parts plus 25%, and the appropriate labor as per our Suggested Repair Times (SRT)
Schedule. When an original Peugeot equipment battery fails, the Interstate's Model 42L-60 is to be used as the replacement unit. The dealer cost of this (42L-60) battery is $44.95. A handling charge (25%) of $11.24 is to be added, bringing a total for parts reimbursement to $56.19. This is to be entered into the Local Parts Amount Box provided on the claim. The Labor Hours entered is arrived at by utilizing the Suggested Repair Times Manual. The Damage Code (405 Model 560042/505 Model 560018) can also be obtained by referring to your Warranty Policies and Procedures Manual, Section 4, Page 39. Upon receipt of your Warranty Claim by the National Warranty Department, it will be processed in a normal manner and the credit will appear on your Warranty Statement.
B) REPLACEMENT OF A PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED INTERSTATE BATTERY
Should an occasion arise where an Interstate Battery fails which was previously replaced under the Peugeot New Vehicle Limited Warranty, and the vehicle is still within Three (3) Years and/or 36,000 Miles from the date of retail sale, this replacement must be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner. Interstate Battery failures which occur within six (6) months from the date of original installation will be replaced free of charge. However, should a replacement be necessary after that period, there will be a pro-rata charge which is based upon the current published cost per month ($1.27) multiplied by the number of months elapsed from the date of original installation. As previously mentioned, if the vehicle is within the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, we cannot charge the customer for the pro-rata expense. Therefore, your dealership is to enter the pro-rata charge which would be incurred by the customer, and this amount is to be placed into the Local Parts Amount Box of your Warranty Claim. Interstate Batteries will include a 20% discount to the dealer for performing this battery replacement. This credit (discount) will cover your parts mark-up and labor. The Damage Code for 405 and 505 Models is 004260. For additional claim completion information, follow the procedures as outlined in Section 4, Page 40 of your Warranty Policies and Procedures Manual. Upon receipt of your claim by the National Warranty Department, it will be processed in the normal manner and credit will appear on your Warranty Statement.
Attached for your information are two (2) properly completed Warranty Claims showing the correct claim completion procedures.
